Tree Removal / Stump Grinding
At the Veron Company, our primary focus is to provide services that keep trees healthy, but there are situations in which removal is the most appropriate option for the needs of the homeowner and/or the wellbeing of the landscape. Because tree removal is a critical part of arboriculture, The Veron Company has the equipment and the professionally trained experts to execute the task of eliminating dead, dying, or hazardous trees professionally and safely.
Tree removal is the most dangerous part of arboriculture and our arborists are highly trained to remove trees growing in confined spaces near houses, utility lines and other sensitive areas using the highest industry standards. We pride ourselves on providing a thorough clean up of debris and striving to prevent any negative impact to surrounding vegetation.
When do I need to think about removing a tree?
-
Dead or Dying Trees- Because they present a significant safety hazard, this is one of the most common reasons for tree removal.
-
Obstructing Access- Trees that grow in unexpected directions or become too large can block access to driveways, roads, patios, decks or sidewalks. When pruning is not an effective way to manage this, removal might be necessary.
-
Overcrowding – The mantra of one of my Professors at Cornell was Addition via Subtraction, which is one of the guiding principles of most arborists. Tree removal can eliminate competition for light and space, which results in the most aesthetically pleasing design and ensures that plants will thrive.
-
Construction- In order to install a pool, build a deck, patio, or addition, it might be necessary to remove trees. In these situations, stump removal will also be needed.
Stump Grinding vs Stump Removal
Stumps are problematic and need to be addressed for a variety of reasons:
-
They are visually unappealing
-
They present a safety hazard
-
They create unusable space
-
They can regrow
At the Veron company we are able to help our customers deal with stumps using two different methods, grinding or complete removal. We have specialized equipment that can execute either task, but it is important to understand the different outcomes of grinding vs removal.
Grinding – Using specialized stump grinding equipment, our arborists shred the stump down into small wood chips so it is not visible and you can seed over it- a perfect solution for a place in your lawn or a field where there is not heavy traffic or anticipated construction.
Why choose removal? Grinding is not the best practice when preparing for new construction, pool or patio installation, or digging a foundation. Grinding will leave material such as the root system that will rot over time and leave a void which can cause structural instability. Our experts use excavators that rip out the stump and the root system in its entirety and dispose of them offsite. We can help our customers with the simple task of eliminating just one stump, or, if necessary, can provide a team who can tackle multiple acres full of stumps that need to be removed.
